- Description
- Smart Grid (SG) is the developing next generation power grid which includes with in a physical characteristics of the power system. The technologies of information and communication enhances the efficiency of grid and provides extensive range of services for customers. Recently the researchers are shown interest in applying the in-place electric power cables as a part of data communication network in SG. Power line communication (PLC) removes the need of installation of new infrastructure, communication and these are the most extensive and universal network available in the world. The based communication system such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) is proposed as a solution to counter the frequency-selective fading and noisy channel conditions in the NB-PLC systems. In this paper implementation of OFDMA communication system using NB-PLC for SG communication has been done. Power line access channels are used for communication between smart meters and data concentrator, these channels are also used for the evaluation of various simulated power line access. In OFDMA, sub-band carrier allocation can be performed in a number of ways including adjacent, distributed and sorted sub-band carrier allocations. This research paper proposes the utilization of a suitable sub-band carrier allocation for the improvement of performance of OFDMA system keeping in view the harsh and noisy PLC access channel characteristics.
